A MIRACLE at the Boys & Girls Club

On September 15th, 2008 we launched an exciting new program called the MIRACLES Technology Academy. The Bellingham Boys & Girls Club is one of just five Clubs in the world selected as a pilot site for this exciting program. MIRACLES Academy is a technology-based program for kids 9-13 years old.

Developed by the Todd Wagner Foundation, MIRACLES Academies are instructor-led, outcome-based, after school programs focusing on the following areas:

  • Robotics, using LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT
  • Basic computer skills
  • Digital Arts
  • Computer Networking
  • Career & Character Development
  • Homework Help

MIRACLES kids also get to use the programs already available to them through the Club such as  Website Design, Music Making, Graphic Design, Photo Illustration, and Movie Making. These programs teach kids how to work with different types of media and are followed by a contest by the
Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

In addition to the exciting things the Academy kids are learning, they also get to use all new
state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to the MIRACLES program, go on fun field trips,
and compete in an internationally-renowned LEGO Robotics building competition.
