WHO WE ARE.

Great Futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County. We are a group of dedicated, passionate professionals who are committed to ensuring that the future is bright for kids from infancy through age 18. We strive to be the premier provider of affordable, high quality care at our eight sites across the county. Learn more about the different departments that work together to fulfill our mission.

EARLY LEARNING CENTERS
Some people refer to childcare as “daycare”. We prefer the term early learning center because of our intentional, evidence-based, holistic approach to comprehensive child development. Dedicated early learning assistants and lead teachers provide a consistent framework that blends structured learning and creative exploration opportunities to ensure that our youngest members are hitting crucial developmental milestones and are well equipped for their next stage in life.

We serve children from four weeks to 12 years old in our infant, toddler, preschool, and school-aged classrooms. We create a safe and nurturing environment where each day comprises of enrichment activities, outdoor time, rest time, and serving healthy meals & snacks. If you are passionate about shaping young minds while following the lead of the youth we serve, and making a meaningful difference in children’s lives during their crucial early years, this is the career for you!

CLUBHOUSES
Do you have a passion for working with elementary-aged children or teens and want to make a positive impact in your community? Club staff do whatever it takes to create a culture of creativity and innovation to achieve our common mission of providing a safe and high-quality place for kids and teens during critical out-of-school time. The three pillars of our mission are academic success, good character & leadership, and healthy lifestyles, and everything we do is built on this foundation. Our teen program is catered to workforce readiness, and developing life skills needed for adulthood.

Work alongside a team of caring professionals who are collaborative and passionate, celebrate successes, and have a dedication to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all children from kindergarten through high school who walk through our blue doors.

ATHLETICS
The athletic department is focused on bringing the highest quality sporting experience to the youth who need us most all around the county. We offer four sports year-round: baseball, basketball, volleyball, and flag football, as well as instructional clinics to provide opportunities for growth for young athletes. The department is comprised of the athletic director and athletic coordinators, who are the “boots on the ground” that interact with our coaches, parents, and athletes.

Our team provides a dynamic and inclusive space on-and-off the fields and courts to encourage members to build self-esteem, promote good sportsmanship, learn and grow a sense of community, and enhance physical and emotional health.

NUTRITION
Step into the kitchen with us and create culinary delights while fostering a love for healthy eating and nutrition at our early learning centers. We are more than just a team of cooks – our work has purpose and we strive to consistently ensure high-quality, varied food choices while integrating locally sourced fresh produce for the growing minds and bodies of the children we serve.

Our nutrition director and cooks are passionate, proactive, and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to furthering our mission through good nutrition and healthy habits. By providing opportunities to sample unfamiliar foods, offering wholesome meals and snacks, and serving meals family-style to encourage social interaction, this team models excellence by building the foundation that is essential to a healthy relationship with food. If you are ready to mix, measure, and make future foodies, join our team!

ADMINISTRATION

This group of collaborative and professional individuals are dedicated to fostering a workplace of respect and reflection while making meaningful contributions to positively impact the community. The administrative team is made up of the executive team, facilities, finance, human resources, and resource development.
