Testimonials

The Boys & Girls Club played a significant role in assisting me in moving forward and being successful. With the support and motivation of my foster parent, my teachers, and the staff at the Club, I have transformed into a new person who has the desire and ability to go to college and seek a career in social work.
Kim Hines, Whatcom County 2014 Youth of the Year
“I’ve journeyed through elementary, middle, and high school facing many obstacles. I’m near college graduation and I always credit the Boys & Girls Club for supporting me through my adolescence and as a young adult. I cannot picture where I would be in my life without the life lessons and experiences I’ve gained being a Club member.”
Vang Le, Whatcom County & Washington State 2010 Youth of the Year
“Everything you’ve seen or heard about me began with lessons I learned to live by at the Club.”
“Like many Club alumni, I can honestly say I don’t know where I’d be today without the Club. Thanks to Boys & Girls Clubs from the bottom of my heart, for all you have done for me, and for so many others.”
“I always go back to lessons learned at the Club. We discovered there was something higher than ourselves, and that giving back to others was what really mattered.”

Today, only 27% of women hold jobs in the computer science field. The problem in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Mathematics) industry is that young girls are rarely encouraged to pursue careers in math and science. This week at the Blaine Branch, Wendy Lawrence, a retired NASA astronaut, spent the afternoon launching rockets with the members. The purpose of an event like this is to spark interest, especially for young women, in these subjects. The Club is focused on creating change and believes that even the smallest events can have the greatest impacts on our girls' futures! ... See MoreSee Less

ROLL ON! When the sun comes out, so do the bikes and trikes, scooters and skateboards. Club Members at the Bellingham Branch are learning to be great ROLL Models while on their wheels! Longtime partner, Fanatik Bike Co., helps Club Members practice bike safety three times a week during our “Fanatik Bike Club.” Members learn about the rules of the road, bike control, and road safety. Bikes are provided by the Club, or members can bring their own from home, and of course helmets are a MUST.
